Important Information & Disclaimers

#MTDone! is not a tax adviser
#MTDone! is a software tool that helps UK landlords record property income and expenses and submit quarterly updates to HMRC under Making Tax Digital. It does not provide tax advice, financial advice, or professional accounting services. You should always seek independent professional advice for your specific tax circumstances.
Tax & HMRC Submissions
When you use #MTDone! to submit information to HMRC, you are making a legal declaration to HMRC under your own name. Each quarterly update and annual return submitted through the Service is your submission, not ours. You are solely responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the information you submit. Once submitted to HMRC, a quarterly update or return cannot be “unsent” by us — you must follow HMRC's own amendment or correction procedures.
#MTDone! automates parts of the submission process, including categorising transactions into HMRC allowable expense categories. While we strive for accuracy, automatic categorisation is a convenience feature and does not constitute professional tax advice. You must review all categorisations before submitting to HMRC and satisfy yourself that they are correct for your circumstances.
HMRC may change its rules, thresholds, allowable expense categories, or MTD requirements at any time. While we aim to keep the Service up to date with current HMRC rules, we cannot guarantee that the Service reflects every change immediately. It is your responsibility to ensure your submissions comply with current HMRC requirements.
Open Banking & Bank Data
#MTDone! connects to your bank accounts through authorised Open Banking providers, including Plaid, TrueLayer, and Starling Bank's API. When you link a bank account, you are granting these providers permission to access your transaction data on your behalf. Each provider is separately regulated and has its own terms of service and privacy policies that apply alongside ours.
We use your bank transaction data solely to help you categorise income and expenses for tax purposes. We do not share your bank data with any third party other than HMRC (as part of your authorised submissions) and the Open Banking providers necessary to fetch the data.
Bank data access tokens are encrypted at rest on our servers. You can disconnect a bank account at any time from your account settings, which will immediately revoke our access and delete the stored connection tokens. We do not retain transaction data from disconnected accounts beyond what has already been imported into your records.
Open Banking consent through TrueLayer expires after 90 days and you will need to re-authorise access. We will notify you before your consent expires so you can renew it without interruption.
AI-Powered Features
#MTDone! uses artificial intelligence (powered by Anthropic's Claude) for certain features, including document scanning (e.g. extracting tenancy agreement details) and the in-app support assistant. AI-generated outputs are provided as a convenience and may contain errors or inaccuracies.
You must always review AI-extracted information before relying on it. AI-generated responses from the support assistant are not professional tax, legal, or financial advice. They are general information based on the question asked and should not be used as a substitute for consulting a qualified professional.
Document content processed by AI features is sent to Anthropic's API for processing and is subject to Anthropic's data usage policies. We do not use your data to train AI models. Document processing is transient — your document content is not retained by the AI provider after processing is complete.
WhatsApp Document Upload
If you choose to upload documents via WhatsApp, your messages and attachments are transmitted through Meta's WhatsApp Cloud API. Meta's terms of service and privacy policy apply to the transmission of your messages. We receive only the document files and associated metadata — we do not access your wider WhatsApp message history.
Accuracy & Limitations
While we make every reasonable effort to ensure that the Service functions correctly and calculations are accurate, software may contain bugs and we cannot guarantee error-free operation. You are responsible for reviewing all figures, reports, and submissions generated by the Service before acting on them or submitting them to HMRC.
#MTDone! is designed for UK and foreign residential property landlords managing rental income under Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment. It is not designed for commercial property or corporate tax returns. If your tax affairs fall outside these areas, you should seek specialist professional advice.
Professional Advice
Nothing in the Service, our website, our documentation, or our support communications constitutes tax advice, financial advice, legal advice, or any other form of professional advice. If you are unsure about any aspect of your tax obligations, you should consult a qualified accountant, tax adviser, or HMRC directly.
We are not a firm of accountants, tax advisers, or financial advisers. We are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAEW), or any similar professional body. Our staff cannot and will not provide advice on your individual tax situation.
